The Tiger replaces the Lion as King of the Beasts in cultures of eastern Asia, representing royalty, fearlessness and wrath. They are among the most recognisable of all the big cats. They typically have rusty-reddish to brown-rusty coats, a whitish medial and ventral area, a white "fringe" that surrounds the face, and stripes that vary from brown or grey to pure black.
